How I Started to Dance?
My journey with dance began when I was 15 years old. At the time, I was part of a team creating choreographies for shows and television programs. Little by little, I became more involved, growing through different dance companies. Although I was still a student, dancing became my main focus during that period.
Later, I moved to Spain to continue my studies, but I never stopped dancing. While there, I explored hip-hop and Latin jazz—mainly Panama jazz at first. That exploration eventually led me to Latin dances, starting with salsa and bachata.
Then something unexpected happened. During one of my classes, a student asked me, “Do you know what Kizomba is?” I didn’t at the time. The next class, he brought me some music, and that moment sparked my curiosity. I began researching Kizomba—its music, its origins, and the key teachers in the field. We started traveling frequently to Lisbon to deepen our practice.
That’s how my Kizomba journey began—thanks to the curiosity of one student. Eventually, I partnered with S. Lopez. We originally teamed up to dance bachata, but soon after, we shifted our focus entirely to Kizomba, and we’ve been on that path ever since.
